We have been going to Ponderosa Pizza for 20+ years every time we come to our family's cabin in the La Pine area. The Taco Pizza is the best we've found in Oregon. Other pizzas I've had are good to very good. The salad bar is decent. They've got my favorite beer so that's a plus. The chicken and jojos are good but I only occasionally have them. It's a family place so it's a bit noisy, can be a bit chaotic on a busy weekend afternoon or evening, but its also a place you'll find the locals hanging out. I really like Ponderosa Pizza and the people who run it try really hard to manage the unexpected crushes of visitors that show up on a moment's notice.

I would recommend not getting the pizza. It's not good at all. The crust tastes like cardboard, and the meat and sauce have a funky taste. It's really pricey for the quality, too! $20 for a large! Go to The Corner Store, or Figaro's Pizza up the street. Better pizza at those places. Hope this is helpful.

My advice? Skip the pizza (which I wouldn't describe as anything other than simply edible) and go with the chicken and potatoes. It's some of THE BEST chicken and mojo style potatoes I've ever had!

To the 3 reviewers who came before me....you realize you're in La Pine, correct? Not Bend, not Sunriver. Feta cheese and artichokes? That's what you honestly thought you'd find here? Must be your first time in La Pine. Is the pizza the most wonderful thing you've ever eaten? Of course not. But for La Pine, it's pretty tasty. The place is big, tv's playing football games, fireplace, friendly service from the kids that work there. To give it 3 stars based upon lack of exotic ingredients is ridiculous.

Really marginal pizza, but excellent chicken and spuds. It made the kids happy. Pizza was overpriced, but other items were reasonable. Pizza crust reminded me of a frozen pizza from the store -- not really leavened or risen. Strangely, there were raw vegetables placed on top of the pizza after it was baked -- thick slices of hothouse tomatoes, diced green bell pepper, black olives, and canned mushrooms. I'd go back, but I'd get a salad (generic salad bar that was oddly missing cucumbers) and a three piece chicken and spuds -- that would be a big, quality meal for less than $10.

They have great crust, but as for gourmet veggies, and variety - no. Just the typical pizza toppings. Nothing very unusual. By the reviews, I was expecting artichoke hearts, feta and fascinating things. Forgot I was in La Pine. It was FRESH! not greasy, great crust and pretty good for a late lunch. We'd eat there again, but not with higher expectations. Just the basics. Salad bar - don't bother. Typical goopey stuff in the containers.

We got a pizza and a large basket of fried potatoes from here - the pizza was slathered with vegetables including thick slices of tomatos. Since I'm allergic to wheat, I just ate the topping from a couple slices; my dining companion ate the crust, and the potatoes which were breaded. I thought the topping was pretty good - I'd been wanting some vegetables and there were a lot of them. Another day she got a sandwich which she found to be good. So, not really my kind of food, but she certainly liked it. I went on to eat at the Cinco de Mayo ( yelp.com/biz/cinco-de-ma… ). From what I saw, I'd be happy to eat here if I wasn't allergic to most of what they serve.

Pizza is good but a lil high priced for quality. Potatoes are great chicken is good when done right, gotten it under cooked a few times. Need to get some more adults an less kids or train the younger ones better

Ordered a large pizza to go. Bland auce only went out two thirds of the way. Toppings skimpy. Mushrooms were from a can, so the box lies when it says all fresh ingredients. Definitely have had much,much better. Service totally amateur.

This used to be the best pizza place anywhere but it is absolutely horrible now, atmosphere sucks, canned rubbery mushrooms, I could go on but I won't so if you care about what you eat go somewhere else.

I've eaten here on several occasions. Ponderosa Pizza has never failed to deliver. Good pizza, and good taters (spuds). Tonight, we had the Sweet Onion Chicken and Wickiup Combo. We also had an order of Spuds. Too much to eat at one sitting, but their pizza is good cold too!

Arrived here on the way home from Redmond in a snowstorm. Was REALLY hoping for good pizza.....sadly, I was disappointed. First off, the teenage staff left to 'man the fort' was overwhelmingly sluggish and disinterested; bad combo for good service. Because of the staff's laziness and failure to communicate, they totally bombed our order and brought us a pizza way different than what we ordered. But the worst part, you ask? Our pizza had a piece of hard plastic diced on it! Yes, a piece of plastic in the shape of a toenail. I brought it to the counter and was at first told it was a hard piece of cheese! I MADE them acknowledge that it was most certainly NOT a piece of cheese. Then they were dumbfounded were it came from. However, I'm sure their lack of attention surely was the culprit. Anyways, place was overly expensive, service was terrible, and there was plastic on our pizza. The crust had good flavor, which is the reason for the second star, but overall this place was seriously disappointing. Find something else to eat in La Pine.

Pizza alone gets 3stars . environment is very casual - very open seating -a couple small tv's an fireplace - other words the ambiance could use a make over to receive 4stars.. game room for kids no lottery for adults. Think its a family run place,friendly. love the pizza here - mmm nom nom

Staying at Riverview RV park in La Pine. Went to get a pizza for dinner after a long weekend. We ordered to go. First they told us the pizza will be ready in 25 minutes went in to pick up. They said it would be 15 more minutes. Picked up pizza crust was raw. Tomatoes were not cooked and mushrooms were from a can, when they had fresh mushrooms right there where they make the pizza. I do not recommend this place at all...

Always love good ol pondo pizza! Always hire you gets, which is a great starting place for high school kids. Pizza is always tasty. Yes sometimes mistakes happen, but dang they always taste great!! Love the atmosphere and arcade room. Great place to eat!

I went to Ponderosa Pizza in La Pine at about 2:30pm. Having been doing landscape work on my property all day without a break I was hot, thirsty, and hungry. I went in and ordered a small Hawaiian pizza (add onions) and a pitcher of Coors light. An elderly lady took my order and questioned whether I was having a companion share the pitcher of beer. I told her I was alone and had no intent on sharing it with anybody. She then informed me she was prohibited from serving me anything but a mug of beer (which she called a pint). Anybody knows that a pitcher of beer is equal to 4 pints (12 ounces) of beer, which is not an excessive amount of beer. I told her to cancel my order and went somewhere else where I was able to order a hamburger and my pitcher of Coors light. I will not be returning to Ponderosa in the future because I am 64 years old and no longer answer to my mother, let alone someone in a pizza parlor acting like her. I would encourage anyone else who dislikes Big Brother (or Sister) telling them how to live their life to avoid the eatery. Go somewhere else where they understand that they work for you, not vice versa. I can understand any establishment refusing to serve anybody alcohol beverages when they are obviously inebriated but it is absolutely ludicrous to refuse service to anyone who is stone cold sober. I knew Oregon had a lot of progressive liberals who are control freaks, but such behavior is undeniably unacceptable.
